Guidelines for Hosting a CWPN Sabbat

  1. You must pick a date to hold a Sabbat. Sundays are best for most people involved, but you may pick a Saturday if it is necessary. Make sure the date is not conflicting with any other major CWPN event or Holiday. We usually do not hold celebrations on the Sabbat itself, as we do not want to conflict with Coven activities.
  2. You must choose a location for the Sabbat. Summer Sabbats are usually held outdoors. If you plan to hold an outdoor Sabbat, you should have a raindate in mind.
  3. You must be a CWPN member if you are hosting a CWPN Sabbat. You are responsible for putting together the Ritual. The participants must receive their parts preferably two or more weeks in advance. Parts must be memorized or paraphrased with the following exceptions: stories, poems, articles and letters may be read from a printed source but under no circumstances may an invocation or dismissal be read from written material.
  4. After date and location have been established, you are responsible for advertising the event. Posting to various websites, posting flyers, mailing flyers and delivering flyers to various new-age shops are some advertising methods. You will receive help with this if you contact the membership committee (mailings) at least 3 weeks in advance.
  5. Indoor events: You will need to recruit volunteers to collect door money, coordinate any food being served and or sold, set up, clean up. If vendors are involved, you must decide upon a vendor's fee and recruit vendors.
  6. You are responsible for providing and arranging for all items needed for the Altar and ritual.
  7. You are responsible for clean up. You must stay until the end of the event, or arrange for others to stay until the end of the event to clean up, supervise clean-up and make sure everything at the site is in order as per the requirements of that site.

The Board allocates a budgeted amount of money in the beginning of the fiscal year for each Sabbat.
If you are interested in hosting a Sabbat, please contact the CWPN’s Vice President for more details.
